Finding a topic

Finding a topic

It sounds easy, finding a topic then building a website and selling it to Google or Yahoo for millions. Well if I'm honest it's not. The topic is the base of everything. If you get this step wrong then every dream about a site that is very popular is over.
To start I would suggest to look at your hobbies. Example: You're interested in cars and motorbikes. You could make a car and motorbike magazine. (example: www.cars-and-motorbikes.com)

If you don't have any hobbies or you don't know what to write about them, get a piece of paper and start brainstorming. Write down lots of ideas, no matter how stupid they are.
Then choose which are ones that you think are okay to make a website about.
After that decide which is the best topic of the previous step. And thats it.

What can you talk about for hours? This simple question that I asked you, will help choosing a topic. Example: You can talk about golf for hours. About golf events, players and courses. You could make a golf database online. (example: www.golfdatabaseonline.com)
Only write about one topic on your site!!!

Questions that will help you:

What do you enjoy doing?

What hobbies do you have?

What do people say you do well?

What do people ask you for advice on?

What do you know a lot about?

What abilities do you have?

What magazines do you subscribe to?
